Texas Is a Butterfly Paradise
Texas claims the highest butterfly diversity of any US state, with over 400 species recorded. The Gulf Coast corridor is particularly rich: it channels Monarch butterflies southwestward toward Mexico during the fall migration (peak October), while the warm coastal climate supports year-round populations of Gulf Fritillary, Cloudless Sulphur, Queen, and dozens of other species. Spring brings the northward return migration plus an explosion of wildflower-associated species.
